Teen Sequins FAQ!
Q: Does Teen Sequins accept international submissions?
A: Yes, and excitedly so!
Q: Is Teen Sequins a contest?
A: It is definitely not a contest. The spirit of Teen Sequins is celebration, not competition!
Q: Are there prizes ?
A: There are no prizes associated with Teen Sequins – again, it’s not a competition, so there are no winners or losers. You’ve been brave enough to let us read your poems, and that’s why we give everyone who isn’t featured an honorable mention.
Q: What does it mean if I get an “honorable mention” ?
A: Your honorable mention is a psychic high five from our Teen Sequins editors. It is also something that you can happily note on any application ( job / college / summer conference or workshop ) as a sign of your ambition and positive risk-taking!
Q: If I am not featured, can I submit my poems again next year?
A: Yes, you are welcome to submit work each year until you are no longer a teen! If submitting for a second or third year in a row, we do encourage you to submit poems of yours that we haven’t already seen.
Q: Can I submit previously published work?
A: For those of you in high school or middle school, if your poems appear in your school literary magazine and do not appear anywhere else (including online), you can send that work to us. For those of you not in school, or in college, we prefer that you send us unpublished work. Published work is considered to be something has appeared in a literary journal (print or online) or on a personal blog or website.
Q: Does being featured in Teen Sequins count as a publication?
A: If you are a featured poet with this question, please write to co-editor Sophie Klahr at email@example.com about your specific situation and she will advise you the best she can!
